We Are In the MTC

MTC Stands for Missionary Training Center

We entered the Missionary Training Center on the morning of 15 July 2019 after a very long wait
(56 days later than originally scheduled). It was a very warm ... I'll call it a hot day.
After in-processing we met as a large group of senior couples... Make that senior missionaries because there were at least three single sisters in the group. There were a total of 90 senior missionaries.

We were there from Monday morning through Thursday evening. More will be said about Friday.
Here are some of the highlights of the experience:

  • Monday evening, family home evening, we watched and discussed a video from Elder David Bednar regarding the character of Christ. It was from an address he gave on Christmas day about 10 years ago.
  • Ruth Ann was able to sing in a 750 voice choir of missionaries. the song was “Consider the lilies of the field. This was sung at the Tuesday night devotional. The choir was close to angelic.
  • The daily training classes far exceeded our expectations! Humbling to receive instructions but also exciting to realize that we have the opportunity to help people in New Zealand come to know Jesus Christ in ways that will help them in their lives.
  • The murals in building T4 (a building of classrooms and pondering areas) were absolutely stunning. They were about 25 feet long and nearly 10 feet tall. They were illuminated from the rear giving them a movie screen quality.
